Welcome to Ascension Parish and Bastrop County!

We are delighted to welcome you to our parish and our community, we hope and pray that you consider Ascension Parish your new Catholic home and our fellow parishioners as your Catholic family.

We are an active parish located in the center of the city of Bastrop and we serve the people of Bastrop, Cedar Creek, and other communities. We have a very active parish with a variety of ministries and I hope that you join in the activities and ministries that interest you and your family. If you have children, we have a Religious Education program with classes for children of all ages. Our Life Teen Youth Group is also very active with a wonderful program after the 5:00 PM Youth Mass. Please call the Director of Religious Education for assistance in placing your children in the classes and/or getting information about our youth programs.

For adults, we offer ongoing faith building classes and activities which include scripture study. We have a very active Knights of Columbus fraternity for the men which includes outreach to the poor, youth support, and fellowship.  The women have a variety of ministries, including the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, Ladies of Charity and many other groups.  You may wish to join a community life ministry like Sociedad de Guadalupanos or Altar Society OR a service ministry like Casitas and Prison ministries or take part in the liturgy by being a member of the choir, a lector, an usher, or an altar server.

Our parish community comes together every year for our Fall Festival always held on the first Sunday in October. We have booths and games for the children, auctions for the adults, and everyone can enjoy the mouthwatering BBQ plates, as well as the yummy desserts. Or try to win your own homemade cake at the cake walk! Win a prize at Bingo or win a great prize at our raffle! Whatever you choose, you can have a great time and meet new friends. Come and join us! We’d love to meet you!
