As Catholics, we know Lent as a time of spiritual conversion. It’s a time when we often think about what in our lives we can give up. The tradition of fasting and giving to the needy during Lent is really meaningful. But let’s remember that prayer, fasting, and giving are the core of Lent. Maybe we can ask ourselves, “How can I make my prayer life stronger this Lent?”
As a community, we acknowledge the divine presence of God in our church and in prayer. So, why not spend some time in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament during Lent? Starting this Friday of Lent, March 7, and every Friday of Lent after that, Ascension Catholic Church will have Eucharistic Adoration starting at 8:00am and extended to 8:00pm.
Fridays are always penitential days in the Catholic Church, and the Fridays in Lent are even more so. If it’s been a while or this is something you’ve not yet experienced, Lent is a great opportunity to start. Anyone can come at any time during Adoration, and if you’re unsure what to do, don’t worry. When we sit before Christ at Adoration, it’s not about doing anything. It’s just about being there. It’s like this: I look at the Master, and the Master looks at me. And that’s all that needs to happen. In that quiet moment, something supernatural is happening, something more than we can even imagine.
